about

Overlooking the Tomifobia River, the ‘Ye Olde Blacksmith’ Art Gallery is an old blacksmithing forgery which has been restored as a seasonal art gallery (June - September). Launched in 2008 by Gabriel Safdie and Eva Juul, the gallery is located both in the heart of Stanstead, and is one of the Centre des Arts de Stanstead’s numerous artistic undertakings. The gallery hosts four alternating shows every summer consisting of a variety of different art mediums including: sculptures, paintings, drawings, photography, embroidery, metal working, watercolour, and more!
In addition to its summer exhibitions, featuring local and international artists alike, the gallery also houses a small gift shop supporting local artisans. The gallery embraces its unique history and its antique wooden structure from its original use as 1850s forgery, and often hosts iron forging demonstrations by our local blacksmith during its monthly vernissages.
